Beautiful Blooming Plants For Your Garden

Springtime is here in the United States, and many avid gardeners are looking at their yard with a fresh eye. They dream of having beautiful blooming plants in every nook and cranny, and some of the more established gardens might have some plants in bloom already too.

If you're starting a new flower garden this year, take heart. You won't have to wait a year or more to start having blooming plants to look at. There are many you can buy at your local garden center from March through May. Often these new plants will already be in bloom when you buy them, and many others will have buds ready to bloom once you get them planted.

Now, the fastest way to get blooming plants into your own yard and garden, is to buy those which are already blooming. Usually these are the annuals.

Annual plants bloom just once each year, and they must be replaced every year there after. They're quite inexpensive since they don't last long, but they're also usually quite beautiful. Some feature showy blooming flowers of solid colors, while others bloom in a whole rainbow. In some cases, you'll find blooming plants which have showy flowers that actually contain a multitude of colors all at once.

When planting your annuals, be sure to read the label of the individual plants you buy so you'll know if they like sun, shade, or a mix of both. Some annuals will want more moist and rich soil too, while others will bloom and thrive quite nicely in dryer soils.

Knowing which soil and sun conditions each annual plant likes will help you group the plantings together properly, and will allow the flowers to bloom and thrive throughout summer and sometimes fall too.

If you'd like some blooming plants which will regrow and bloom again for multiple years on their own, you'll need to look for perennials instead. Perennial plants can be bought and purchased once, planted in the proper location of your yard and garden, then cared for... and they'll produce new blooms for you each year. In some cases, blooming perennial plants will stay around for just two to three years, but most of the perennials bloom for many years into the future.

If you choose to buy blooming perennial plants, be sure it's a plant you really want. If you put it into your yard or garden and discover in a year or two you don't really like it, the plant could be difficult to get rid of later.

Perennial plants are not always in bloom when you buy them, and many don't even have fresh new flower buds on them yet either. Many types of perennial plants actually have to be planted in the ground for a year or two before they'll start blooming. There are plenty however, which will have blooms from the start, so they'll look pretty in your garden.

If you buy perennials which won't bloom the first year though, you can still have blooming plants in your garden by simply planting annual flowers alongside the perennials. This way you'll have beautiful blooms immediately, plus you'll have new blooming plants next year without having to buy more.
