Being in an investment club is a great way to break into the world of investing. You can learn and get started investing at the same time. One of the first things you, as a club, needs to do is understand how to buy stocks as an investment club.

There are many aspects you have to realize when buying stocks as an investment club. The whole basis of the club is to pool your money and invest it to get a good return on your money. However, when you are investing as a group that means everyone needs to be happy with how the investing is going.

Club members have to come to an agreement about how to invest the money. This is one of the perks of being in an investment club. Members can come together and share their thoughts and their knowledge in order to make good investment choices.

When your club is considering their first stock purchase there needs to be some critical questions answered.  The group needs to decide what the focus of the clubs investment is.  This means looking at what types of stocks you are interested in and how much of a risk you are willing to take.

The investment club also needs to check out their options in the stocks that meet their criteria.  They should examine the companies to see who is the strongest and who is the best investment.

The club needs to decide how much they want to spend.  They should decide how much stock they want to buy.  It is also wise to consider if they want to buy stock in different companies or just invest in one company.  Additionally, they should look long term and figure if they want to buy more stock in the companies they have chosen or branch out to different companies later.

The club also needs to decide how long they are going to hold onto their stocks.  There needs to be a solid agreement about when to sell and when to hold onto the stock.  They should be pretty clear on when to sell or at least agree to meet if certain things happen, like the stock falls.

The investment club then needs to either purchase their stocks or work with a broker to buy the stocks.
The whole process of buying stocks as an investment club has got to be done as a group.  That is the whole idea of the club.  Everyone should get a chance to voice their opinions and even their objections.  The actual buying of stock should not happen until everyone is in agreement and on the same page about the stocks, the amount of money and when to sell.

It can help to make up some criteria about stocks.  For example, the club may agree to never invest n a company that has considerable debt or who has had product recalls recently.  Criteria like this can really help to narrow down investment options and make the whole stock buying process go smoother.

Learning how to buy stocks as an investment club is something that is a natural part of an investment club.  It may take some time for everyone to get used to consulting the group on their investment decisions.  The whole idea of the club is to brig together people and create diversity in the investment styles.  People in the club may see themselves taking more risk or they may feel more secure about taking risks just due to the club.  An investment club can make investing fun and it also can make it less stressful to know you are working with a group instead of trying to do it by yourself.
