Getting a Ticket to the Golf Masters
69How Can You Get a Ticket to The Masters?
Of all the golf tournaments, the Masters golf tournament is the most prestigious. The Masters golf tournament is where you'll get to see the Who's Who in the golf world play. As you could see, the Masters is a major social event, not simply a golf tournament. If you're a golf enthusiast, the Masters is the one golf tournament you should see for yourself in person. However, if you think getting a ticket to the Masters is as easy as whipping out your credit card and ordering online, think again. The Masters tickets are very scarce. It isn't going to be that easy to get the Masters ticket.
The Masters golf tournament occurs every year in Augusta, Georgia, beginning on the first Monday and ending on the second Sunday of April. In 2009, the Masters Golf Tournament will be played from April 6 - 12. The fairways and the greens are manicured to perfection. Azalea bushes line the fairway edges as well as on the course grounds. Golf fans from everywhere early on try to secure the Masters golf tournament tickets so they can watch their favorite golfer and see the breathtaking fairways.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are days when golfers participating in the Masters can do practice rounds. If you'd like to watch the practice rounds, you better hurry up because the Masters golf tournament tickets to the practice rounds are available for sale to the public one year in advance. You can order the masters tickets for the practice rounds right on the Masters golf tournament website.

The chances of your securing the Masters ticket for the actual tournament days are slim to none. This is because the Masters tickets for these days have not been available for sale to the public for over three decades, since 1972 to be exact. Because of the huge demand for the Masters golf tournament tickets, the Augusta National Golf Club put up a waiting list that same year. However, they had to close the waiting list in 1978 because it became so long that it was impossible for the club to keep up with the demand. In 2008, the club reopened the waiting list but closed it again shortly afterwards. As of today, you can't buy a ticket to the Masters from the organizers of the tournament nor can you get yourself on a waiting list for a ticket to the Masters.
The only way you can get a ticket to the Masters is if you find people who own the Masters golf tournament tickets and are selling them. You may find them advertising their ticket to the Masters on your local paper or on the Internet on sites like eBay and Craigslist. Be prepared to pay big money for a ticket to the Masters this way. By the end of January 2008, the cost of a Masters ticket on sites like eBay was between $6,000 and $8,000.
If you're lucky (and loaded with money) to get a ticket to the Masters, the next thing you need to do is make arrangements for your stay during the tournament. If you're driving to Augusta, you'll find many residents there offering parking space for a fee, usually $20 a day. Again, parking space is limited so you'll need to come early.
The Masters golf tournament tickets are extremely hard to come by, and if you're fortunate to get one for yourself, you'll have a memorable experience. When you're at the tournament, you will have to pin your ticket to the Masters on your shirt where tournament officials can see.
